Green Day just released a new album "Saviors" four years after releasing "Father of All," and they are reviving their old sound with a new twist.

Despite revisiting their old sound, the rock band insists that they are still the same band, who just take advantage of their music getting better with age, like wine.

This is exactly how Mike Dirnt, the bassist of Green Day, described their song "The American Dream is Killing Me," a spin-off of sorts of their song "American Idiot."

"'The American Dream Is Killing Me' was written by Billie [Joe Armstrong] almost four years ago," Dirnt said.

"But we all knew it was just low-hanging fruit. We're not a parody of who we are, and songs like that need time to be fleshed out. If that means just sitting back and letting life happen, so be it. And it was one of the last things we recorded."

Green Day Drops 'Savior'

Green Day released their 14th studio album, "Savior," which boasts 15 songs on the tracklist.

It opens with "The American Dream is Killing Me," followed by "Look Ma, No Brains!," "Bobby Sox," "One Eyed Bastard," "Dilemma,"1981," "Goodnight Adeline," "Coma City," and "Corvette Summer."

The album also includes "Suzie Chapstick," "Strange Days Are Here to Stay," "Living in the '20s," "Father to a Son," title track "Saviors," and "Fancy Sauce."

According to reports, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained the new album's political themes: "This time, we brought it out, and we felt like it was the perfect time for it... It takes those special, inspired moments to have a moment like 'The American Dream Is Killing Me.'"
