Gwen Stefani's musical career benefited from her divorce from Gavin Rossdale.

After 13 years of marriage, Stefani and Rossdale called it quits following rumors that the Bush frontman cheated on her with their nanny. Still, they never disclosed the real reason behind the filing.

On the brighter side, the "What You Waiting For?" hitmaker made the dissolution of her marriage an inspiration to further her music career.

Gwen Stefani's Divorce Helped Her With the Block

In her past interview on "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show," Stefani opened up about having problems with her creativity following the sudden change in her life. But after some time, she realized its positive effect on her music career.

"Especially with success or with art, you can get blocked," she disclosed. "I think that with everything that had gone down in my life in the last five years, I got blocked! I got really insecure about it and even during the solo period I was so scared to go in with someone."

Stefani also credited her songwriting process as something that pushed her to open up about the heartbreak.

She previously used her marriage to work on famous songs. However, she realized their relationship's warning signs through the tracks she worked on.

The divorce also led her to develop a romance with Blake Shelton after their meeting on "The Voice." At that time, Shelton ended his long marriage with Miranda Lambert.

"Blake wrote the song and sent it to me. He was like, 'Help me finish it.' I wrote a verse and sent it to him, but he was gone because he doesn't live in L.A. He didn't have Wi-Fi, so he wasn't answering me back! As soon as he came back to town, he brought his guitar over. We were like, 'We wrote a song together!" the "It's My Life" hitmaker continued.

On the other hand, Shelton credited Stefani for saving her life, telling Billboard how she understood what it felt like to go through a high-profile divorce from another musician.

The pair announced their engagement in 2020 before tying the knot at Shelton's Tishomingo ranch. They also held wedding festivities in Oklahoma a day before the ceremony.
