Eminem

  • Listen To Eminem Freestyle On Baruch College Solo Vibes Radio in 1997 [LISTEN]

It has been nearly 20 years since 1997. There was a lot going on as the calendar ticked towards the new millennium. In 1997 Mike Tyson famously bit off Evander Holyfield's ear, Princes Diana was killed and the price of a movie ticket was about $4.50. It was also right when Eminem's career was first taking off, in between his debut album Infinite and the critically acclaimed follow-up The Slim Shady LP. 1997 was also the year he went on Baruch College's Solo Vibes Radio Show and delivered an on-air freestyle session with A.L. (All Lyrics).
  • Eminem's Lyrics Called into Question in Front of Supreme Court over Definition of "True Threat" on Social Media

Looks like Eminem is testing the limits of the first amendment once again, using the same songs that caused horror to parents and censors around the country when they emerged around 1999. This time however, his lyrics are being compared to rap lyrics drafted by one Anthony Elonis who claims he was venting over his divorce and never actually intended anyone harm when he made violent threats regarding his ex-wife on Facebook. If the court agrees with the Eminem argument he may be off scot-free. If they disagree, he could end up in prison for up to four years.

Reps for Azalea reportedly tried to get the video taken down

  • The Longest Streaks in Hot 100 History: Featuring Plenty of Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey and Black Eyed Peas

On this date during 1994, Boyz II Men stuck around for a 14th week atop the Billboard Hot 100 with its hit "I'll Make Love To You." That tally left it in a tie with Whitney Houston and "I Will Always Love You" for the most weeks on top of the Hot 100. As album sales have grown less important to the industry and single sales have become more relevant, that record has since changed hands. Check out the Top 13 songs in terms of weeks at no. 1 (mind you, there are quite a few ties...we ranked ties according to age of the song, not by how much we personally enjoyed it).
