• Florence + The Machine Tops Album Charts; Merle Haggard Sets Career Mark

    The first sales week for Florence + The Machine's How Big How Blue How Beautiful was certainly the first (and possibly third) adjective featured in the album's title, as the third record from the songstress sold 128,000 copies and took the top spot on the Album Charts, holding off also-rans Taylor Swift and A$AP Rocky. It was the highest sales week of Welch's career.

    Florence + The Machine booked its first no. 1 effort on the Billboard 200 as mouthful How Big How Blue How Beautiful took the top spot with more than 137,000 equivalent album sales. Although only pure album sales were tracked at the time of the band's last release, Ceremonials, Billboard suggests that this was also the band's biggest sales weeks in terms of pure records as well.

  • A$AP Rocky No. 1 on Billboard 200 with 'At.Long.Last.A$AP'; Boosie BadAzz, Hillsong United Follow

    Another hip-hop performer takes the top spot on the Billboard 200 with a surprise album as A$AP Rocky and At.Long.Last.A$AP debuts with 146,000 equivalent units in its first week. That may seem like more than his last album, Long.Live.A$AP (which also debuted at no. 1), however that album opened with 139,000 actual copies sold, while the new Billboard metrics also take single downloads and streams into consideration. In that light, A.L.L.A. only sold 117,000 copies. Of course, week two could also be strong due to the surprise nature of the release.

  • Twenty One Pilots, Zedd, Jamie Foxx and Faith No More Debut in Albums Chart Top 10

    Twenty One Pilots had never sold more than 11,000 copies of an album in one week prior to the release of Blurryface last week, but that record didn't need streaming to top the Billboard 200. It also comes in at no. 1 on the albums chart, selling 134,000 copies (more than 91 percent of the album's Billboard 200 total came from actual album sales).

  • Twenty One Pilots Top Billboard 200, Taylor Swift Recovers Big Time Post-Awards

    Yet another new performer to top the Billboard 200 as Twenty One Pilots takes the top spot with Blurryface, which sold more than 147,000 equivalent units. That makes the Columbus, OH-based alt group the seventh act to top the charts for the first time during 2015 (including bigger bands such as Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons).

  • 'Pitch Perfect 2' Soundtrack Sales Up, Snoop Dogg 'Bush' Numbers Down

    'Pitch Perfect 2' might not have a "Cups" yet (technically Anna Kendrick does perform her song on the new soundtrack but it's not a Hot 100 smash anymore) but it still managed something that the previous film's song collection didn't: topping the albums charts. The record, boosted by medleys featuring dozens of hit songs, won the sales battle this week by moving 91,000 copies.

    Another week and another soundtrack atop the Billboard 200, as the song collection from 'Pitch Perfect 2' grabs the no. 1 spot by moving 107,000 equivalent albums sold. The original film's soundtrack peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard 200, although its single "Cups" was a smash on the download charts. The current film already out-earned the first installment, which brought additional attention to the album as well.

    'Pitch Perfect 2' has finally revealed the soundtrack for the forthcoming sequel, due in theaters on May 30, and boy is there a lot of music crammed into it. Although the iTunes playlist doesn't reflect too many familiar-sounding tracks, Pop Sugar has broken down the soundtrack and dug out more than 35 tracks buried within the film's many mashups. Expect contributions from Pitbull, Miley Cyrus and of course, Cisqo, to appear within.
