The Official Charts Company of the UK has taken the continued rise of vinyl LPs into consideration and has introduced a new list tracking sales of the format every week. The first rendition of the chart was revealed Sunday night (the same time that the rest of the UK charts are exposed), featuring All Time Low and Future Hearts as its first no. 1, mirroring the band's performance on the overall Albums Chart.

Anyone with an eye on the music industry is aware that vinyl sales have been growing for years now, with 2014 marking new highs for buyers in both the United States and the UK. NME reports that 2014 marked the highest year of sales for vinyl in the UK since 1994, while vinyl album sales have grown 69 percent compared to this time last year, and vinyl singles have gone forward by 23 percent.

The Official Charts Company has also begun tracking the sales of vinyl singles as well, a form that has also seen—albeit smaller—a rise in interest among music buyers. It's appropriate that the first entry on this week's list comes from Underworld, a electronic dance music group. Its single "Baby Wants To Ride," which is a tribute to house music pioneer Frankie Knuckles, comes in at no. 1. The good news is that proceeds from that single will go to the Frankie Knuckles Trust and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

"We're honoured to be Number 1 in the UK's first Official Vinyl Singles Chart," said member Karl Hyde. "Vinyl has always been a hugely important part of what we do as Underworld. We started out selling 12"s of our records from the back of a car; it's still our format of choice when buying music and it's fantastic that it's undergoing such a resurgence."
