Joe Keery's "best-kept" secret is out: he is Djo, the genius behind the TikTok viral hit song "End of Beginning."
According to People, the Stranger Things star's song entered the Billboard Hot 100, making it into the Top 40 of the chart.
"It's pretty crazy to see the reaction to the song," Keery said about the song, which is a reflection of his time in Chicago during his early 20s. "I have not totally moved on, but I've put it out and am at peace with it, so to see it now take new life has kind of made me reflect again on that time."
While Keery is best known for his role as Steve Harrington in Netflix's hit show, he is also a local celebrity in the Chicago music scene.
Joe Keery's Music Career
Apart from acting, Keery makes music; he was a member of a psych-rock band, Post Animal, which became the foundation of his career in music.
He explained that making music is his way of expressing his creativity. While he is a solo artist now, he reminisces about "the camaraderie of all the bands back then."
"It's just mostly cool that I wrote about something that felt really specific to me in my life and turns out that a lot of people can connect with that same feeling," the singer-slash-actor added in his interview.
"I've had a really cool experience with Stranger Things, obviously, but I wasn't the writer of that. So this is my first foray into writing something and having it connect with people."

Joe Keery Teases 'Stranger Things' Ending
In the interview, the "Runner" singer also shared more insights into his work in Stranger Things, as fans have highly anticipated the show's last season.
He reassured fans that while his music career is taking off, Stranger Things still "comes first."
Keery explained that he makes music during his "downtime," and once the show wraps up, he plans to pursue it more seriously, reports say.
Keery is not the only singer in the Stranger Things cast; Finn Wolfard, who plays Mike Wheeler, is part of a rock band called Calpurnia.
Maya Hawke, who portrays Robin Buckley in the show, has also established her music career. The singer-slash-actress has two albums: Blush and Moss.
Her third album, Chaos Angel, is coming soon.
