Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, will not face charges in the alleged altercation with an Australian paparazzo in February, prompting Swifties to celebrate.

Australian authorities launched an inquiry into the alleged incident even after Scott left the country following Taylor's Eras Tour stops. Initial reports said the probe was triggered after "a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf about 2:30 am, before leaving the location."

The parties involved were later identified as Scott Swift and paparazzo Ben McDonald.

Taylor Swift's Father Won't Be Charged in the Incident

RTE cited the Australian police's statement to officers on Tuesday (March 26), saying there would be no further action after they "conducted an investigation following a report of an assault."

The authorities did not share further details about their findings, but the ruling means police will not pursue McDonald's assault accusations against the "Lover" singer's father.

Meanwhile, Swifties celebrated the outcome as they also believed Taylor's father should not be charged in the incident.

One wrote, "I'm happy, he defended his daughter as we would have done with our loved ones."

"Scott Swift should NOT be charged. Happy the investigation by the Sydney police saw it that way," a second said, while a third shared, "We knew that already, but it's nice to make it official."

A video of the alleged assault surfaced following the incident, showing Scott holding Taylor's hand as they walked toward an awaiting vehicle after a yacht party. The "Look What You Made Me Do" songstress had her upper body covered with an umbrella, making it difficult for her to walk freely on her own. Scott was assisting his daughter before the alleged incident took place.

What the Photographer Claimed

McDonald shared his story in his interview with AFP, claiming the "old man" confronted him and took it even further after Swift left.

"He punched me in the chops," he told AFP. "It was a shock. That's never happened to me in 26 years. I didn't know who he was."

Speaking with TMZ after the alleged incident, the veteran photographer said he would forgive Scott if he just issued an apology following the alleged assault, which a Swift family representative denied.

"Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water," the representative told Variety.
