Kendrick Lamar and Drake's rap beef started when the latter linked up with J. Cole on "First Person Shooter," the chart-topping single from Drake's "For All The Dogs."

Since then, the rap beef has escalated and has raked in various rappers like Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, and more.

Drake, J. Cole Releases' First Person Shooter'

In October 2023, J. Cole compared himself to both Drake and Lamar, calling them the "big three" of rap.

"Love when they argue the hardest MC," he rapped. "Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali."

Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin Drops' Like That'

Just when everyone thought Lamar didn't care about J. Cole's name-dropping, he sniped at him and Drake on "Like That."

"Yeah get up with me, f*** sneak dissing / 'First Person Shooter,' I hope they came with three switches," Lamar rapped. "M********* the big three, n****, it's just big me."

The song has since topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks, even blocking Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter's hits from the top.

Cole Hammered Kendrick Lamar on '7 Minute Drill'

As a response to Lamar's diss track, J. Cole has responded by releasing a mixtape, Might Delete Later, which contained "7 Minute Drill."

"He still doin' shows, but fell off like the Simpsons/ Your first s-t was classic, your last shit was tragic/ Your second shit put n--s to sleep, but they gassed it/ Your third s-t was massive and that was your prime/ I was trailing right behind and I just now hit mine/ Now I'm front of the line with a comfortable lead/ How ironic, soon as I got it, now he want somethin' with me," J. Cole said.

However, a few days later, he retracted the song's aggression. He even apologized to Lamar during the Dreamville Festival, confessing that he was just pressured to release the song.

"I was conflicted because, one I know my heart and I know how I feel about my peers, these two n-s that I just been blessed to even stand beside in this game, let alone chase they greatness," he said in his speech.
