Despite being spotted out in public briefly over the weekend it seems like morning sickness is wrecking havoc on Kate Middleton.

The Duchess of Cambridge was scheduled to travel to Malta this weekend and it was a huge deal because this would have been her first solo trip as a member of the royal family. Clarence House, however, announced this morning that Kate is now too ill to travel and her husband, Prince William will instead travel in her place. The trip was originally scheduled to be made by Queen Elizabeth but she passed it to Kate due to her own failing health.

So Prince William will now be on hand to help celebrate Malta's anniversary – 50 years of independence – and he will follow the same itinerary originally laid out for his wife. It's not really surprising that Middleton has been sidelined with severe morning sickness since the same thing happened when she was carrying Prince George. Apparently the duchess gets so obviously sick that the monarchy feels they are wiser to just announce her pregnancy early rather than wait the standard 12 weeks before doing so.

Kate's second pregnancy seems to actually be generating less buzz than her first one initially did.

Do you think that once Kate Middleton starts stepping out and dressing her baby bump the media will go as crazy as they did while waiting for Prince George to arrive? Will the spare heir to the throne be as widely speculated on as everything about Prince George was? Apparently official royal watchers have already started placing bets on the stats for Kate and Prince William's second child already! Is that a little crazy or par for the course when a royal baby is once again on board?
