Tonight is the night all New York Yankees fans have been waiting for.

After a season-long farewell, Derek Jeter will put on his pinstripes for the last time, weather permitting. The team and fans have been finding ways to honor their captain all season, and people have continued tuning in long after it became clear the team was not going to make the playoffs.

While Jeter's playing has actually been pretty lousy as of late, that has not affected his Q factor. He is hands down the most marketable and beloved player in baseball, and as of now there is no one behind him ready to take over once he leaves.

Weather has been a huge concern today, as a nor'easter has soaked the East Coast since late last night, but reports expect it to be only sprinkling by the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Yankees Manager Joe Girardi is anticipating a packed house regardless of the weather and not a dry eye in the house by the end of the Bronx send-off for Jeter.

Believe it or not, five teams passed on him before Jeter signed with the Yankees, and in his 20-season career he has done the unthinkable: managed to keep his dignity without any personal scandal erupting in the press.

As far as we know, the worst thing the guy has done is break up with a girlfriend — or several. Not only has he had a great run in baseball, but he has done just as well while living under the microscope of the public eye.

Will you tune in to watch Jeter in action on the field for the last time tonight? Is there anyone in baseball coming up that you think might be even slightly marketable? Let us know in the comments section.
