No one expected Josh Homme to be a One Direction fan, but he felt the need to clarify his stance.

In a recent interview with MTV, the Queens of the Stone Age frontman touched on Britain's worldwide pop sensations while discussing his kids' listening habits.

"I refuse to be a musical snob at this point with my kids, you know what I mean, if they wanna listen to One Direction, go for it, man," he said. "Yeah, I mean, that's not necessarily my direction. I try to shy it away to a different direction because I have to drive the car too. And like, do you want it to go over a cliff or do you want it to go to school? You decide - you're eight!"

As previously reported, QOTSA fans will get a nice Halloween treat at The Forum in Los Angeles, where former bassist Nick Oliveri will return to play a few songs with Homme and the gang.

According to NME, Homme was the driving force.

"Josh asked me to come up and do six songs with Queens, like an encore set," Oliveri said. "A reunion, but not a reunion. I'm going to get up and play some bass and sing some songs at the end of the show. It should be an interesting night."

The bassist added that if he ever records or tours with Queens again, it will be because Homme allowed it to happen.

"That's pretty much up to Josh," he said. "It's his band, and when he pulls the trigger on something, it's up to him. I put myself out there a few different times in the past 10 years at Queens shows. I'd go and see them play and say, 'Hey man, I'm here! Do you want me to sing a song?' I stopped asking him after a while, and then he asked me! It's pretty much just when he wants to do something, these days. It's not up to me, is what I'm saying."

Homme's original plan was to have Oliveri and his band open the Oct. 31 show, but the singer called him up and asked if he wanted to play a few "old songs" during the encore as well.

Oliveri, who was dismissed from the band in 2004, sang background vocals on "If I Had a Tail" on Queens's most recent album ...Like Clockwork. The bassist also played with the group live in April, his first appearance with Queens in 10 years.
