NME reports that legendary guitarist Jimmy Page has shot down the possibility of a Led Zeppelin reunion, though he also announced plans to put together a new band of largely unknown musicians to perform music from all across his 50-year career, as well as "some new material."

During a playback of the upcoming Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy remasters at London's Olympic Studios, Page was asked by NME whether or not a Zeppelin reunion is still possible. "I don't think it looks as though that's a possibility or on the cards, so there's not much more I can say about that," Page confessed. "I'm not going to give a detail-by-detail account of what one person says or another person says. All I can say is that it doesn't look likely, does it?"

These comments come after a pretty tough summer for the legendary rock band, in which Page admitted he was "fed up" with lead singer Robert Plant for delaying a reunion. Plant shot back in July, saying that Page has "disappointed and baffled" him.

Despite the squashed Zeppelin reunion, Page revealed at the playback that he wishes to put together a new band to play music from every part of his long career. "If I was to play again it would be with musicians that would be...some of the names might be new to you," Page said. "I haven't put them together yet but I'm going to do that next year."

"If I went out to play," Page continued, "I would play material that spanned everything from my recording career right back to my very, very early days with The Yardbirds. There would certainly be some new material in there as well."

The upcoming remastered deluxe editions of Led Zeppelin's classic albums Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy are set for release on Oct. 28.
