Fans of The Walking Dead are still going crazy over last nights' premiere episode of season 5. Carol (played by Melissa McBride) is probably the character that has evolved the most since the first season, and after last night, the writers' have officially made her a hero. Watching her single-highhandedly shoot up a gas tank and then infiltrate Terminus by covering herself in Zombie blood so that she could imitate the walkers and free her friends was just amazing.

Every season starts off strong but this seemed to be an episode that no one really expected. In a recent interview Lauren Cohan teased that this was the best episode the cast has filmed to date and many fans are in total agreement of that assessment. Cohan also said there was a part that she couldn't watch and that people would know exactly what she was talking about when they saw it. The opening slaughterhouse scene was beyond graphic but it totally set the urgency and tone for the rest of the episode.

What are your thoughts after watching Carol truly save the group and then finally share an emotional reunion with Daryl? She is obviously back in their good graces after being ostracized a few years ago and has more than proven her worth but will it ultimately be enough? Do you think that the writers will be able to continue the kind of momentum that this first episode of season 5 has already built up? They have set the bar really high, do you think that the show will continue to measure up?  Are you excited by this new and improved Carol? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
