In a recent tweet, Madonna's manager claimed he and the "Vogue" singer don't know Ariel Pink, who was reportedly working on the pop star's next LP, MDNA.

"[Madonna] and I have never heard of [Pink]," Madonna's manager Guy Oseary wrote in response to a fan's tweet. "The label may have reached out but M has no interest in working with mermaids."

The mermaid remark probably has something to do with the first name Pink shares with the protagonist from Disney's The Little Mermaid, Rolling Stone noted.

The tweet comes on the heels of recent comments Pink made about the album to Faster Louder that, even if the two are not collaborating, were still in poor taste.

"They need something edgy. They need songwriting," Pink said. "She can't just have her Avicii, her producers or whatever, come up with a new techno jam for her to gyrate to and pretend that she's 20 years old. They actually need songs. I'm partly responsible for that return-to-values thing."

"I guess it's called 'throwback,' but the first record was so good because of the songs," he added. "It's been a downward slide [since]. Ray of Light is not cool. And all the other stuff she's done after that, it's not like it matters. It really shows a drain of values. People need more substance in their mac-and-cheese. People need more sugar or something."

Grimes and The Black Lips chimed in on Twitter, with the former taking Madonna's side and calling Pink a misogynist. The Black Lips came to Pink's defense.

Reports claim Madonna's working with Diplo and Avicii on her new album, due out in 2015, but Diplo is the only collaborator who has been confirmed by Oseary.
