In November, fans of the smash blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy will be able to jam like Peter Quill when the movie's soundtrack is put out as a cassette tape.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 has already been released as a CD, digital download and vinyl LP, Billboard reported, but on Nov. 17 the actual format from the movie will be in stores. Retailers who participate in Record Store Day will carry the cassette until the end of the year. Each tape will come with a digital download of the album. Disney Music Group, which last released a cassette in 2003, has not disclosed how many copies will be made for the re-release.

In Guardians, Chris Pratt's Quill has an emotional connection with his mix tape, which features tunes by The Jackson 5, David Bowie, The Runaways and Blue Swede, because it was a gift from his mother. The music on the soundtrack also serves as an important element to the comedy-action film.

"We're thrust onto a bunch of strange planets with strange landscapes, and the familiarity of the pop songs made it all a little more palatable," James Gunn, the film's director, told Vulture. "They simultaneously grounded us and provided a really fun juxtaposition."

The soundtrack spent two weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart, an impressive feat for an album with all previously released material. According to Nielsel Soundscan, the record sold 543,000 copies to date.

Earlier this month, poster company MONDO announced a special reissue of the album, with custom artwork and purple vinyl. That version will be out in 2015.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Dec. 9.
