Rush is rapidly approaching its 40th anniversary, and guitarist Alex Lifeson says that a tour is in the band's future to celebrate the milestone.

Lifeson told Artisan News at a charity golf outing recently that the band's huge video box set R40, out November 11, will be the prelude to the tour. "We're talking about putting a tour together for next spring," he said, Blabbermouth reports. "I can't believe that it's been 40 years already. But I hope for another 40."

After wrapping their long tour in support of their 2012 Clockwork Angel album, Lifeson told Rolling Stone in March that rumblings of a tour were already in the works. "The three of us just had a meeting," he said. "We said, 'Let's not talk about anything band-wise for the next year. Let's separate ourselves and come back rejuvenated.' Unfortunately, the other people at that meeting didn't hear what we were talking about, so there are already plans being made for spring of 2015."

Fans who are ready to see some rare cuts live may want to stay tuned into any new developments of the planned tour as well. "We want to try and play different material this time," Lifeson added. "I've always wanted to do some rarer Rush material, and this should be a good opportunity to do that. I also think it's going to be a long tour. We just need to stay healthy until then."

R40 will chronicle five Rush tours including Rush in Rio, R30, Snakes & Arrows Live, Time Machine and Clockwork Angel Tour. A bonus disc will feature rarities from the '70s and Rush's 2013 performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
