Carlos Santana proved he still has some serious chops on guitar last night, Oct. 25, after he and his son Salvador Santana performed a spectacular rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" in San Francisco for Game 4 of the World Series.

As Jambase reported, the instrumental is a soft, breezy take on the national anthem, until the legendary axeman hits the final chords. That is when he unleashes some rock 'n' roll fury. Check out the video below and marvel at Santana's greatness.

Other musicians who have performed the tune in San Francisco recently include former Grateful Dead bandmates Bob Weir and Phil Lesh as well as the husband-wife duo of Tim and Nicki Bluhm.

Santana spoke to Billboard in May in advance of his band's 22nd studio album, Corazón (Heart).

"The goal was to make a Supernatural-type of CD, with special, soulful guests [and] with that kind of vibration of el barrio [the neighborhood]," the guitarist said, referencing the group's 1999 hit record that contained the radio favorite "Smooth" featuring Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 fame.

Pitbull, Juanes and Ziggy Marley all helped out on Corazón.

The guitarist also disclosed that the original members of Santana, who performed a mind-bending set at Woodstock in 1969, would be hitting the studio together for the first time in 40 years.

"We're doing Santana IV 'cause we stopped at III. We went into the studio [and] we [did] some vocals. We are going to record some more," he said. "To be in the same studio as Greg Rolie, Michael Shrieve and Michael Carabello ... it's really incredible to make that circle complete."
