The video for Bon Jovi's "Runaway" is one of the dumbest things ever created. Just ask the man himself. "It's absolutely awful," Bon Jovi recently told Billboard. "We had no input as to what it would be about or who would be in it. They had people give us clothes to wear; we were just dumbfounded. Fortunately, the song had some roots, so we were saved."

The video portrays your typical dual narrative between the band rocking out — Bon Jovi wears purple skintight pants — and some brazen sideplot featuring a young woman who shoots fire out of her eyes.

Still, the video did enough to vault the New Jersey group to stardom.

"I used to dream about the day when Casey Kasem would talk about [us] on American Top 40," Bon Jovi said. "And there it was, on Sunday morning, hearing that voice, 'No. 39, a brand-new band from New Jersey.' I was just so happy."

Relive "Runaway" if you dare:

BJ was recently unsuccessful in his attempted purchase of the NFL's Buffalo Bills. The prevous owners were reportedly skeptical that Bon Jovi's group would relocate the team.

In a last-ditch effort, he took out a column in the Buffalo News to plead with fans.

"Our objective is simple: to carry on the legacy of Ralph Wilson and make the Bills successful in Buffalo," he wrote. "We are committed to working with the State, City, County and business community to identify the best possible site in the Buffalo area for a new stadium and to then develop and implement a plan to finance and build a state-of-the-art NFL stadium for the loyal Bills fans.

"I know how much the Bills mean to the people of this region," he wrote. "So I want you to hear this from me: I'm not risking it all to let you down. If we are given the chance to be the next owners of the Buffalo Bills, I promise you that we will bring the same passion that you do every Sunday, every day."

Terry and Kim Pegula ended up securing the team for $1.4 billion.
