Former Fleet Foxes drummer Josh Tillman has announced his second Father John Misty album, I Love You, Honeybear. The follow-up to 2012's Fear Fun, the effort is due out Feb. 10 via Sub Pop. Tillman performed a cut from the album, "Bored in the USA," along with a 22-piece string orchestra section last night on The Late Show With David Letterman, his second appearance on the show.

The album was recorded throughout 2013 and 2014 in Los Angeles with producer Jonathan Wilson (who worked on Fear Fun), mixed by Phil Ek, and mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound.

In addition to the standard digital, CD and 2xLP editions, a limited edition deluxe 2xLP alternate cover on tricolor vinyl, housed in a "Dioramic, Meta-Musical Funtime gatefold jacket" will be available for purchase. All physical editions come with a foldout poster designed by Alia Penner featuring intimate photos by his wife Emma Tillman and eight demos on cassette while supplies last. Those who pre-order the album will get an instant download of "Bored in the USA" as well as a second single before release day.

They also come with an extensive "Exercises for Listening" written by Tillman, which can be found on his website. He gives directions on what "supplementary content" the listener needs to get the most out of the album. For example, some of the supplies he recommends are "one blazing hot August morning, one itchy mouth, one hung-over semi-hard-on, once ocean of hot, half metabolized brown liquor in your stomach, one two-week old inexplicable, looming dread," etc.

The LP's press release comes with a letter (worth reading) from Tillman colorfully detailing the album's genesis. In it, he compares the sound to "solo-era John Lennon, Scott Walker, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, and Dory Previn, while taking more than a few cues from Woody Allen, Kurt Vonnegut, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Muhammad Ali. Blammo."

Father John Misty (backed by a seven-piece band) will embark on a tour in support of the album. King Tuff, Guy Blakeslee, and Luluc are set to open at on various dates.
