Hunter Hayes was in Nashville this week to perform at the CMA Awards, but he also played an outdoor show on Monday that went late into the night.

"It was a little chilly," Hayes told the 615 (via Billboard). "I was a little worried, to be honest, because it was so late. We did that because there are a lot of awards ceremonies that are going on through the week, so we didn't want to start in the middle of one of those. I was blown away by the turnout. We were out there playing until about 12:45. It was beautiful, everything I wanted to be. Our service men and women deserve that celebration and many more. I hope we get to do it again soon."

The lucky dude got to play with The Doobie Brothers during Wednesday's award show, a collab that followed duets with Jason Mraz and Stevie Wonder earlier this year.

"The funniest thing is that when people ask me about who I would like to collaborate with, I feel dumb because I've gotten to do some pretty sick collaborations lately," Hayes said. "I feel that if I asked for someone else, I would feel guilty. We've done some really cool things, and I feel blessed, fortunate and incredibly appreciative."

So, what's next? That'd be the Tattoo Your Name Tour, which kicks off November 13 in Milwaukee.

"We had a lot of fun on the Invisible tour, but you always finish a tour, and you're never really done with it," Hayes said. "So we decided to take it back out on the road again with the Tattoo Your Name tour, but we decided to amp it up and do everything twice as much. Everybody that walks in gets a wrist band that lights up during the whole show, and it syncs up with an app that we designed for the tour where you can enter in a little bit of personal information about yourself.

"The whole stage moves during the show, as we've got a whole bunch of long aisles. I love getting to design a tour and show, and this was a chance to do a lot of fun stuff that I've never gotten to do before. It just keeps getting better."
