In a recent interview with Vice's dance platform, Thump, Insomniac Event's founder and CEO, Pasquale Rotella revealed details about an upcoming book he is planning on releasing in 2015. The book is slated for release next May and also has a movie deal with Fox.

The main point that is addressed in the interview is his relationship with Robert Sillerman and SFX, the media conglomerate with deep pockets that has bought many different companies in the dance music space. According to Rotella, Sillerman offered to buy Insomniac Events, ranging from $120 million to $150 million. He described what it would have been like if he had taken the offer, saying "If I'd gone into business with SFX, I feel like I might as well have just retired. But there are so many things I still want to do. I care too much about this scene."

Last year, Insomniac bought a 50% stake in Insomniac, but as Rotella says, "We have complete autonomy within Live Nation. I didn't sell the whole company. They are just our investors and support us financially."

From the interview, it appears that this will give some fascinating insights into the business practices of Robert Sillerman and SFX. With his position and experience in the industry, Rotella's insights into how the dance music market has changed and how it is changing in the present will be intriguing to see as well.

Insomniac Events has been the standard bearer for dance music events on the west coast since its inception. Started by Pasquale Rotella in 1993, the company is best known for its flagship festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, which has expanded from its West coast roots now in Las Vegas, to New York, Orlando, Puerto Rico, Mexico and London.

It recently formed its own label, Insomniac Records in a partnership with Interscope Geffen and already landed Russian DJ / producer Arty on its roster for his debut album, which you can hear the lead single from below.
