Hit-Boy recently made an announcement that took everyone by surprise. The "N---as In Paris" producer revealed his retirement from music production via Twitter after discussing his grind in a new series from Jay Z's Life+Times and Vitaminwater.

"I retired from music industry production last night," he tweeted Wednesday without providing further information.

However, he did follow up by retweeting the release of "Man Down," which he produced for NNO Tha Loc. Audio Push rapper Price took to Twitter to clarify Hit-Boy's announcement, which he shared on his timeline. "No...Hit-Boy didn't retire morons. So you bunk producers can STOP celebrating. The homie still at n---as necks wit the sonics. #HS87BOW2015," the tweet reads.

As of late, Hit-Boy has been focusing on his rap career and running his label Hits Since 1987. It's possible that the producer's tweet was an indication of his plan to scale back on production for artists outside of his label.

Back in September, Hit-Boy was featured on a new series of documentary shorts called Where I'm From. In the 7-minute clip, Hit-Boy took fans through the neighborhoods he grew up in while documenting his non-stop work ethic, family support, HS87 and aspirations to be different.

"Really, this is my focus," he said in the video. "This is what I've always wanted. I've been calling for this s--t for a long time so for it all to be really placed in front of my face now, I gotta step up to the challenge and balance this s--t out really just keep this s--t booming."
