With Foxcatcher now getting a wide release, Steve Carell stopped by Popcorn with Peter Travers to discuss the film. At the end of the clip, Travers asks Carell to sing a song, and the actor surprisingly opted for "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift.

"I love it," he said. "I actually love Taylor Swift. I think she's great." Check it out down below.

Carell is receiving mostly positive reviews for his dark performance in Foxcatcher.

From The New York Times: Mr. Carell's physical transformation is perverse, hypnotic and a touch distracting, and you may find yourself searching for the familiar face behind the pasty skin and large prosthetic nose that juts from John's face like a cruel joke. Little by little, with long stares, an old man's shuffle and strange phrasing, Mr. Carell transforms the character from a figure of ridicule into something truly grotesque.

Rolling Stone: Carell, sporting a fake nose and an elitist whisper, does the same. It's a tricky, triumphant portrayal, a tour de force of slow-burning menace. Carell is perfection. So is Foxcatcher, a unique and unforgettable psychological thriller that knocks the ground out from under you.

Variety: While the house's sprawling grounds are undeniably impressive, including a long-running horse-racing operation known as Foxcatcher Farm, it's du Pont (Carell) who really gets the viewer's attention. Sporting pale, lightly freckled skin, near-invisible eyebrows and a large prosthetic nose, Carell doesn't look anything like himself — nor, for that matter, does he sound much like himself, delivering his speech in slow, stilted dribs and drabs, the somewhat nasal register barely concealing an edge of steel.

By the way: Taylor noticed.
