Say what? One of the most influential figures in the history of electronic music has announced that he'll be putting out a new album—his first in more than 30 years—during Spring of 2015. Giorgio Moroder released a statement Monday confirming that a new record will be on the way on the Sony Music International (RCA in the United States).

The Italian performer and producer has had somewhat of a resurgence thanks to his work with Daft Punk for Random Access Memories. The French duo even featured a song titled "Giorgio by Moroder" on the album, which featured the producer describing his career for nine minutes, accompanied by a soundtrack provided by the robots. He released a new track over the summer as part of the Adult Swim Summer Singles program (titled "Giorgio's Theme") but that didn't necessarily suggest he would be busting out a new full-length in the near future.

This time he'll be borrowing a tad from the current trends in EDM in that the new album will host a number of guest vocalists participating. The list is quite long: Britney Spears, Sia, Kylie Minogue, Charli XCX, Foxes and Mikky Ekko will be among the stars lending their vocals to the album. This might come as a surprise to those who assume Moroder is some art-house musician based on the Daft Punk appearance. In fact, he was one of the first to feature popular vocalists on top of his music. He wrote "Love to Love You," perhaps the greatest disco song of all time, alongside performer Donna Summer. We'll just have to hope that all the guests don't water down the instrumentals as much as some stars in the house scene have done.
