If you did a quick Google search for "Sasha Grey" — NSFW! — your suspicions would be confirmed that this is indeed the award-winning porn star, actor and musician Sasha Grey. She has now focused more on the family-friendly variety of entertainment, shifting her talents to more traditional acting and music. Playing regular DJ gigs, she is now heading into the production world, teaming up with Bay Area production duo Goshfather & Jinco for a remix of Pras's "Ghetto Superstar" featuring Mýa and Ol' Dirty Bastard.
Grey and Goshfather & Jinco keep the iconic vocals from the original track, but adds a shuffling bass line and distorted synth stabs for a modern and trendy house remix:
It appears the collaborations between the two has been building for quite some time, as when you scroll back through Sasha Grey's Twitter timeline you see her retweeting Goshfather & Jinco's previous tune "Guetta." They also recently headlined the same festival bill in Mexico: Electric Colors Festival.
As we detailed in the past, this is not Grey's first foray into the music world. In fact, she released four studio albums as a part of the industrial/noise band aTelecine alongside Ian Cinnamon. She has since left that endeavor and is focusing on, among other things, her disc jockey career.
This is not the first time we have seen Sasha Grey's name on a production. She previously collaborated with New York City producer Jayceeoh on their original "Heat of the Night" featuring the vocals of Bella. Grey is currently on an Asian tour, via AXS, and with the press noticing her more behind the decks, Sasha Grey could be a force that is here to stay.
She is co-staring in a new movie, Open Windows, alongside Elijah Wood, another actor/DJ. The two of them would spin some after-parties or trade secrets on how they work.
