Nicki Minaj is set to drop her third studio album, The Pinkprint, on Dec. 15. Earlier this week, she released the album's official tracklist. Now she has released the effort's opening track, "All Things Go," which is available for download on iTunes for fans that pre-order the album. As Minaj has mentioned in interviews leading up to the album release, The Pinkprint is her most personal and emotional album to date, and this song proves it. The song, featuring production from Boi-1da, Vinylz, and Alen Ritter and co-written by Ester Dean, shows Minaj rapping about how fame has changed her relationships.
She talks about taking her daughter to preschool in seven years, losing her cousin to senseless violence, being proposed to 10 years ago, having an abortion after getting pregnant with her ex's child, wanting her younger brother Micaiah to go to college, her relationship with her older brother Jelani, and hating the fakeness of the industry.
This opening track sets the tone for the album. Minaj even says it explicitly: "Yeah we did it, let's leave this imprint / Just finished writing, this is the Pinkprint."
The Pinkprint has been preceded by the singles "Pills N Potions," "Anaconda," "Only," "Bed of Lies." Following up 2012's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, it will feature appearances from Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Drake, Lil Wayne, Ariana Grande, Jeremih, Meek Mill, Lunchmoney Lewis, and Skylar Grey.
Minaj is set to perform this weekend on Saturday Night Live with host James Franco. This will be her second appearance as musical guest on the show.
