Imagine Dragons will be releasing a very real new album in the new year. After releasing singles "I Bet My Life" and "Warriors" over the last few months, last night (Dec. 15), the epic rock band announced that its sophomore effort, Smoke + Mirrors will finally drop in February. Imagine Dragons accompanied the album release news with a new single, "Gold."
After revealing the album's title and pre-sale information on Twitter, Imagine Dragons later revealed that the numbers "02172015" were significant - yes, Smoke + Mirrors will be released on Feb. 17, 2015.
Where does the spider hide its treasure? 02172015. It's more than just a date.

"Gold" takes on a bit more of an experimental vibe from Imagine Dragons, who often follow the same, expansive and loud formula for its singles. Starting off with jarring percussion courtesy of whistles, banging pipes and a stomping hand clap, the track soon takes quite the haunting turn.
Vocalist Dan Reynolds is backed by low, creeping voices in the chorus. "Everything, everything, everything you touch / Turns to gold / Gold," the choir sings with frightening determination. While "Gold" maintains that oh-so important Imagine Dragons gusto, it strips away the self-importance, instead turning to track into one that feels like pure rage and revenge. And it works.

Smoke + Mirrors will be released on Feb. 17, 2015. The album is Imagine Dragon's second studio effort and follows the release of its 2012 album Night Visions, which spawned the massive singles "It's Time," "Radioactive," "Demons" and "On Top of the World."
