It's been more than 40 years since Charlie Daniels first hosted Volunteer Jam, but he's bringing it back next August with a lineup that includes Billy Ray Cyrus, Kentucky Headhunters, Montgomery Gentry, the Outlaws, Lee Roy Parnell and Travis Tritt.

Rolling Stone reports that Nashville will host the event on Aug. 12 at Bridgestone Arena.

"We never had any idea how big it would become. Broadcasting around the world and on Voice of America," Daniels says in a statement. "We thought it was a hometown thing. We never realized it would become an international event."

Proceeds will go to the Journey Home Project -- a non-profit founded by Daniels that helps veterans -- and the Nashville Predators' Predators Foundation, which helps local families in need.

Daniels worked as a Nashville session musician in the '60s, and played bass on three Bob Dylan albums -- Nashville Skyline, Self Portrait and New Morning -- before settling into a successful solo career.

Concert attendees can count on hearing "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," Daniels' most well-known song.

"It's definitely a thrill," he told News OK this fall. "Everybody knows we're gonna play it; they just don't know when we're gonna play it. I take a lot of time and a lot of meticulous care in planning our sets. This is something that you learn through experience. You start off with a bang, obviously, and you kind of go up, down and sideways during the set. Then when you go out, you wanna go out with a memory. You wanna do that really well, you want to go out with something that people are going to remember. So, that's our song, that's our tune, and that's the last thing people remember about us."
