Erykah Badu, Tyler The Creator, J.B. Smoove and others will appear in Adult Swim's Black Dynamite musical The Wizard of Watts.

As noted by Vibe, the hour-long film set in the 1970s is a spin-off of the 2009 movie of the same name. The film follows Black Dynamite and his crew as they try to keep ninjas, including Bill Cosby, Richard Nixon and a young Michael Jackson, from terrorizing the city. Black Dynamite attempts to take a day off, police start patrolling the streets and mayhem follows without his presence.

According to Pitchfork, Black Dynamite is then hit in the head with a brick causing him to hallucinate into the Magical Land of Oz-Watts, where he is called upon to defend the community from the police.

Police brutality has been a hot topic for the past few months prompting protests across the country following the non-indictment of police officers in the deaths of Mike Brown and Eric Garner.

"As a comedy writer, I feel it's my job to make people laugh while using constructive social criticism to evoke thought and inspire dialogue," said Carl Jones, who directed and co-wrote Black Dynamite and is co-executive producer of The Boondocks.

Last month, Erykah Badu shared her voice for an episode of Black Dynamite. Badu voiced a prostitute and Rita Marley alongside Chance The Rapper, who starred as legendary reggae singer Bob Marley, in an episode titled "How Honeybee Got Her Groove Back."

The show, a cartoon adaptation of a Blaxpoitation film, premiered officially on Adult Swim in July of 2012 and is in its second season.

Black Dynamite: The Wizard of Watts will air on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on Jan. 10 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
