Malia Obama is making headlines this week, due to a recent photo that has surfaced revealing Malia's musical tastes lean towards the hip hop flavorings and offerings of Pro Era. The selfie of Malia was posted on Instagram and Twitter and it features the President's daughter repping a Pro Era T-shirt.

As reported by Gawker, the Pro Era crew was sent the photo from "a mutual friend of Malia and the pro era member."

While some are questioning if the photo is actually of Malia Obama or a very close doppelgänge, others are questioning where the photo was taken. A large majority of all photos of the First Family are professionally taken, so a grainy resolution selfie of this nature is notable and out of character.

Back in 2012, when Malia was 14, President Obama told MTV's Sway, “I know the folks at Facebook, they’ve revolutionized social networks. But Malia, because she’s well-known, I’m very keen on protecting her privacy. She can make her own decisions as she gets older, but right now, for security reasons, she does not have a Facebook page.”

The Pro Era crew wasted no time using the photo to promote their official merchandise, with members of the Brooklyn-based collective reposting it on every social media outlet.

The eldest daughter of the President rocking ones music is quite the compliment, as well as one with good timing as Pro Era crew leader Joey Bada$$ is in the spotlight this week regarding a charge for assault in Australia and could use the positive support.

According to police reports, the rapper got into an altercation with a security guard, allegedly punching him in the face. Luckily, he was cleared to continue the rest of his shows in Australia. Before heading to New Zealand, Joey Bada$$ will perform in Melbourne and Syndney.

Joey Bada$$'s debut studio album B4.Da.$$ is due out this month on January 20th.
