James Blake recently had to put part of his tour on hold and reschedule the dates for 2014 because he was sent to attend the Mercury Prize ceremony back in his native England. Now he's had to do the same with shows that were set to take place in March.

Blake did end up winning the prize, an annual award given out for the best album by British or Irish performers, above artists like David Bowie, Savages, Disclosure, Arctic Monkeys, so it seems the previous cancellation was worthwhile. Blake explained his surprise about the win.

"I feel weird and confused. But wonderful," he said. "It's a moment you don't expect to happen to you. In fact you might even bet against it if you're British. This is the first thing I've ever won apart from a tennis trophy when I was 12. And I hold them in equal esteem. I'll be putting them on the shelf next to each other."

As for the March dates, the musician went to his Facebook page to share the saddening news.

"It's with great regret that we announce the cancellation of the four postponed US shows in March 2014. A number of events have conspired against us leading to it becoming impossible to fulfill the dates. Sincere apologies to those who bought tickets. Refund info to follow asap. HQ"
