Childish Gambino has dropped a video for his single "Sober" off his KAUAI EP. Hiro Murai, who was also responsible for Flying Lotus' "Never Catch Me" video, reunited with Gambino to direct the clip - and it doesn't disappoint.

The video shows the singer and rapper (born Donald Glover) sitting in a booth at a take-out restaurant when a woman sitting across the room catches his eye. With "Sober" playing in the background, he gets up from the table and walks over to her, trying to woo her with some bizarre dance moves because he's so high. She looks freaked out and annoyed then walks to another table, continuing to play on her smartphone. Gambino doesn't let up though, and walks back over to her. He then performs magic tricks involving a dove and an egg that has a message inside ("I'm so high"). The song then takes a darker, electronic turn and he starts dancing on the tables and playing air guitar. When the groovy piano-driven beat returns, he finally gets the girl to crack a smile. She then leaves with her food, and he sits back down where we found him at the beginning of the clip.

Last month, Gambino wiped all of his social media accounts clean with no explanation. Some fans theorized that it was out in solidary with online protests about police brutality stemming from the grand jury decisions not to indict the officers who killed Eric Garner and Mike Brown. Others thought it might have something to do with his new FX show, Atlanta, or upcoming new music.

Around 4 a.m. on Jan. 7, he broke his social media silence with a link to a countdown clock that would strike zero at 3 a.m. this morning (Jan. 9). At around that time, the timer revealed the new "Sober" music video, Complex points out. It all makes sense now!
