Fans of Derek Hough are no doubt feeling a mix of emotions as it has been confirmed that he will be sitting out Season 20 of Dancing with the Stars. Of course, the five-time Mirrorball Champion has no intention of just taking a breather: Instead, he landed a great gig that will allow him to expand his brand and show off more of his talent. It has been confirmed that he will hit the stage for a seven-week run as the male lead in New York Spring Spectacular opposite Laura Benanti.

Harry Weinstein, producer of this new production, confirmed Hough's involvement, saying, "We are so thrilled to have Derek Hough joining the cast of New York Spring Spectacular. Derek has been entertaining us for years on TV, and we are very excited to bring this talented performer to New York City to light up the Radio City Music Hall stage."

Of course, Hough is thrilled to be heading to the famed New York stage.

"I am ecstatic that I'll able to extend my passion for performing to the Great Stage of Radio City Music Hall in New York Spring Spectacular. Performing at Radio City Music Hall in a show that celebrates everything that is beloved about New York City is a dream. I can't wait to show fans this production ... it's going to be like nothing they've seen me in before," says the ballroom pro.

This is not the first time Hough has decided to sit out a season of DWTS. He first joined the cast in Season 5, and by Season 12 he was sitting out a round of competition. While Hough may step away from the hit ABC show to tackle new adventures, he hardly seems like he is ready to completely move on from it for good.
