Rap icon Snoop Dogg is moving forward with plans to create a biopic about his life, inspired by the recent Michael Jackson biopic, he revealed in an interview on "Big Boy's Neighborhood".
HotNewHipHop reported that Snoop Dogg, whose career has spanned decades and influenced hip-hop culture worldwide, said watching the Michael Jackson biopic sparked new motivation for his own project.
"When I seen the Michael Jackson movie, that was inspiring," Snoop said. "Very inspiring, because it was great storytelling. The acting, the believability, and the nephew becoming Mike. Just performances. All of that. It just was exciting to see. I put a spark in me."
The rapper noted he had the chance to view the Jackson film before its public release during a private screening. Big Boy, who also saw the movie early, praised its quality and asked Snoop if it influenced his outlook on telling his own story.
"It gets you into a mode of storytelling," Snoop replied. "You look at the storytelling, the characters, and how much you know and how much you didn't know."
Snoop Dogg admitted that watching a movie about his own life might feel unusual because he typically doesn't reflect on his past achievements.
"I mean, I never looked at my highlights, so I don't really know what my life was," he said. "I'm living life. So if I see something or hear it, I'm amused by it. Because it's like, 'Damn. I did that? That was me?' 'Cause I don't watch me. I'm too busy doing me."
For years, fans have expressed interest in seeing a film about Snoop Dogg's rise to fame and personal journey. The rapper's openness about developing a biopic signals that such a project may soon come to fruition.
Recently, according to Yahoo! Entertainment, Snoop Dogg's company is asking a judge to dismiss wrongful death claims connected to the 2021 killing of Drakeo the Ruler at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. festival.
According to court filings, Snoop's LLC argues it had no role in organizing the event, hiring security or operating the venue, saying its involvement was limited to Snoop's performance.
The lawsuit, filed by Drakeo's family in 2022, claims poor security contributed to the rapper's fatal backstage stabbing. Multiple parties, including Live Nation, were named in the suit.
