Chris Cornell has attached his name to several groups, one-off or otherwise, in the past 30 years, but when all else fails, he can turn to a solo career that has already produced three full-length studio albums and one live effort. The Seattle legend's discography overfloweth with hits from Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and other endeavors. And while his solo career has not been nearly as successful or memorable as any of those groups, it's still had its moments.

Now, Cornell has decided to venture back onto the recording path all by his lonesome and pump out a fourth studio album.

Cornell humorously noted that the sessions begin just as another man with the same name was being charged with attempting to terrorize the United States capitol building.

Craziness aside, Cornell spoke to The Pulse of Radio about how Soundgarden's 2010 reformation affected his current mindset (via Blabbermouth).

"One thing about a solo artist is you can just be in a room way too long with yourself and your own thoughts and your own songs, and it feels really good to be working with Ben [Shepherd] and Matt [Cameron] and Kim [Thayil] again, and it's actually a really nice reprieve also from just being alone, doing what I do," he said. "It's helping with the balance, I think, too."

Cornell has not named a producer for the new project. While we could hazard several guesses as to who it might be, we're almost certain it won't be Timbaland. Almost.
