2015 has just started and we are already becoming overwhelmed with news for North American festival season. While our friends down in the Southern hemisphere continue the outdoor party until the weather no longer permits, the temperatures will soon warm up in the north, and our sun-deprived skin will return to the light once again. With all of the news surrounding festivals to kick off 2015 as they compete with each other over the same 18-30 year-old market of music fans, Viagogo has compiled a list of the most popular festivals on their ticket service thus far in 2015 via NME. The results are not too surprising with incredibly popular electronic music festival Tomorrowland leading the way, Coachella slotting in second as the lone United States representative after selling out in a record 39 minutes and the Brazilian edition of Tomorrowland third.

Much of the hype surrounding summer festivals has been due to lineup announcements like in the past two weeks we have seen announcements from Coachella, Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Rock in Rio USA and many, many more.

In a statement to Forbes, a Viagogo spokesperson explained the trend in ticket sales in January. "Music fans typically stave off the January blues by snapping up tickets to see their favorite acts and this year it looks like many are planning to combine their summer holidays with a trip to a foreign festival."

The results are for tickets being sold on Viagogo, which is not the whole concert ticket sample size, but provides a broad view of what festivals are popular right now worldwide.
