Blake Shelton showed off his acting chops over the weekend as host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live, and now, he's making his move into film. According to The Wrap, the country music star and Voice coach has been cast in Adam Sandler's upcoming film Ridiculous 6, a Happy Madison production that marks Sandler's first film under his new deal with Netflix.

As The Wrap points out, Ridiculous 6 "puts a comedic spin on ensemble westerns like The Magnificent Seven." It follows Sandler as a man who grew up an orphan in a Native American tribe. The film will also star Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Whitney Cummings, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Jon Lovitz, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell, Lavell Crawford and Vanilla Ice, who will play Mark Twain.

Shelton will play the role of Wyatt Earp, a character presumably based off the real life gambler, lawman, pimp, saloon keeper, gold miner, buffalo hunter, and boxing referee -- a true Wild West personality.

Production on the film starts in February. No release date has yet been given.

Shelton had an impressive debut on SNL, taking part in six of the broadcast's eight sketches. He certainly knows how to play off country-western stereotypes. You can revisit some of Shelton's best moments from his episode here.

Shelton will return as a coach for Season 8 of The Voice on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. on NBC. Meanwhile, his latest single "Lonely Tonight" is still climbing the charts. His latest album, Bringing Back The Sunshine, was released back in September and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It also spawned the single "Neon Light."
