Sam Smith is gearing up for what will be the biggest night of his career so far. The English pop star is not only up for multiple awards at the Grammys -- including Album of the Year -- but will also be performing at the show, which airs Sunday, Feb. 8. Last year was huge for the singer, who conquered the charts with his debut In the Lonely Hour thanks largely to the standout single "Stay With Me." In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Smith talks about comparisons to Adele, his sexuality and why he will give Beyoncé the Album of the Year Award if he wins.

The singer is often compared to Adele because they both rose to success behind albums about heartbreak and neither of them look like the stereotypical pop star. Smith said the comparisons are getting old and that he is sure Adele feels the same way.

"We're very different, and I feel like the constant comparisons might piss her off," he said. "It just annoys me that people can't digest two pop stars singing really personal songs who don't look like normal pop stars."

Smith admitted that he gets insecure about his image as well and is attempting to lose some extra pounds before the Grammys with a cayenne-pepper juice cleanse. Howard Stern recently insulted the singer, calling him "fat" and "ugly," but Smith is used to being bullied.

After he came out, he dealt with people who did not agree with his sexual orientation. The singer recounted being called a "f****t" in front of his father and getting attacked after moving to London.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview came when Smith started to praise Queen Bey. His In the Lonely Hour album is up against the pop icon's self-titled effort from 2014. Beck's Morning Phase, Ed Sheeran's x and Pharrell Williams's GIRL are also up for the award.

"She deserves it way more than I do," he said about Bey. "I'd be embarrassed if I got it over her. If I got it, I'd give it to her."
