Amid all the Super Bowl chaos and Katy Perry praise, Flea posted a tweet over the weekend reportedly confirming Danger Mouse as the producer for the next Red Hot Chili Peppers album. The post has since been deleted, Alternative Nation pointed out, but perhaps that is just the bassist's way of creating some hype. Either way, DM might be what the group needs for their 11th studio album.

Flea was short and sweet on Twitter, writing, "Bout to start recording. Danger mouse producing.....Let's hang soon." Hopefully the "let's hang soon" part means that some tunes are on the way.

Drummer Chad Smith opened up about the new album in December to Rolling Stone, saying the band was working with an "unnamed producer." Maybe Flea was not supposed to say anything about that aspect of the record.

"The new album is shaping up good, man. We've got lots of songs, and we're working with an unnamed producer who is really challenging us to find new ways to come up with new music," he said. "We've done the 'guys get in the room and jam out songs, everybody playing together all at once' thing. And we wrote a bunch of songs that way. And we're now going to try another method that will be really challenging for us and will bring new, exciting results for the band."

Smith added that the band is also workshopping a new recording method, saying the Chilis are trying "something very different and unique" on the album.

While the band continues to work on new material, former guitarist John Frusciante is also preparing his next project. He will also be trying something different, announcing that his musical alter ego Trickfinger would be putting out an acid house LP. Frusciante has been working with electronic music for five years now and will actually lay a few tracks down now that he is comfortable with the new tools.

"I had lost interest in traditional songwriting and I was excited about finding new methods for creating music. I'd surround myself with machines, program one and then another and enjoy what was a fascinating process from beginning to end," he said.

Trickfinger is out April 7.
