If you're looking to create your first mixtape and want to do more than just loop the instrumental version of Jay Z's "Izzo" like everyone else, Converse has your back: The shoe company/music fans will offer the Converse Rubber Tracks Sample Library online free-of-charge (from Billboard).

The library will feature more than 10,000 high quality loops and will be constantly updated by music community Indaba Music. The samples provided have been recorded by performers using the Converse studios in Brooklyn and London as well as at other locations around the world.

More than 125 performers have created songs for the original Converse Rubber Tracks program-no word on whether the samples available will include tracks from the 'CONS' EP's that pair up unlikely artists, such as Dillinger Escape Plan and Jerron Benton. The shoe label has apparently also tapped performers such as RJD2 to create new music exclusively using samples from the new library.

"With so many musicians having professional recording capabilities in their homes and on their laptops, sampling recorded content has become an integral part of the music creation process," said Dan Zaccagnino, co-founder of Indaba. "Indaba has been a leader in providing creative opportunities and unprecedented access to source material to musicians for a decade. Working with Converse to develop such a ground-breaking resource for musicians is truly in the spirit of both companies."

Perhaps Converse felt guilty that it couldn't give as much free access to its Brooklyn and London studios based on high demand, so it created the sample library for losers (like your correspondent) to make music from home instead.

No word on when the library will become available for use. Stay tuned.
