Afroman was arrested following a show last night, Feb. 17, in Mississippi, and it was not because he got high. Video from the Biloxi gig shows a woman onstage dancing while Afroman begins a guitar solo. Seemingly out of nowhere, the rapper punches the fan in the face, dropping her to the floor on Mardi Gras. The show went on for the "Colt 45" singer -- he picked back up on the solo before security escorted him off the stage, TMZ noted.

The woman is able to stand back up on her own in the video, and someone who looks to be a friend or at least a concerned bystander bravely walks onstage to help the victim. Witnesses said the young woman was crying and bleeding following the vicious punch. The rapper was arrested following the incident and charged with assault shortly thereafter. Check out the videos below.

According to WLOX 15, Afroman was in town as part of the Fat Tuesday celebrations in Mississippi. He was performing at Kress Live following a Mardi Gras parade. The performer paid a $330 bond to get out of jail.

"Afroman was about five songs into his set when the incident occurred," Chase Taylor, owner of the venue, told the station. "We pulled the plug on him, and security met him at the bottom of the stage to escort him outside, where he was taken into custody."

A representative for the Grammy-nominated artist told Billboard in a statement that the punch was an "involuntary reflex reaction." The artist has trouble with fans coming onstage during his performance, which is why there is a clause in his tour rider for extra security, the representative explained.

"It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside, uncontrolled forces," the rep added, saying that the venue was lacking security.

Afroman has an extensive discography, but his only notable release came in 2001 with The Good Times. "Because I Got High" has become an anthem for the marijuana community, giving the rapper a cult-like following. The album hit no. 10 on the Billboard 200. Its follow-up, 2004's two-disc Afroholic ... The Even Better Times, made it to No. 99 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
