NBC News has spent the last several weeks in a continued state of turmoil thanks in great part to Brian Williams's embellishment problem. While Deborah Turness, the network president, decided to take swift action and suspend him for six months, that one act alone was not going to be enough to restore faith behind the scenes and with the fan base. It was pretty obvious that major changes were going to have to happen, and now more details are starting to take shape that could easily change the face of NBC News completely. Major changes could ultimately save Williams's job.

In the midst of the ongoing crisis, NBC seems to have decided to turn to a familiar face to help them turn things around. Andy Lack served as NBC's president from 1993 to 2001, and he guided the network through choppy waters during his tenure. He is reportedly in talks to return and it is thought to be almost a done deal, according to a report by Radar Online.

"It's only a matter of a very short period of time. The fact that Andy guided NBC after the General Motors-Dateline scandal in the '90s was a key factor in bringing him back. The network took a huge hit after Brian Williams was caught lying about his Iraq war reporting. Andy and Brian are very, very good friends, and it's highly unlikely he would be coming back without Brian," explained an insider.

Supposedly, Turness will not be flat-out fired if she is replaced because overall NBC is happy with her performance.

But what about Williams? Can you imagine him back in the anchor chair without it leading to even more credibility problems for the network? Would it risk it just to get Lack back on the job? Should it? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
