There are currently few details known about Adele's highly anticipated follow-up to 2011's 21. Fellow pop star Kelly Clarkson shared an interesting side note recently during a chat with the Wall Street Journal about the "Rolling in the Deep" singer's upcoming LP. The former American Idol champion said that Adele is incorporating some country into her new material, which has yet to receive a release date.

Clarkson said that she "heard [Adele] is doing something more country influenced with this next record." The singer was talking about how acts like Pink and Lady Gaga were experimenting with different styles of music with their traditional pop sounds.

"The more artists do that, the more open-minded people get and the less formulaic it will sound," she added.

Adele hasn't put out any new music as of late. She released the theme song, "Skyfall," in 2012 for the James Bond movie of the same name. That's really been it for Adele. In her defense, though, she did give birth in 2012, which is most likely why she's taken her time with releasing a new album.

A source close to the Adele camp said back in January that the artist was not rushing the album.

"The album will be released when it's ready — [we] hope that will be at some stage in 2015. That's all I can tell you right now," the source said.

Clarkson recently released her seventh album, Piece by Piece. It received mostly positive reviews. The singer revealed in her chat with the WSJ that she also has a country album on deck.

"I love soulful Bonnie Raitt, Travis Tritt country. That's my favorite. I just love that vocal. [Country musicians] are the best story tellers. That's how my record is going to sound," she said.
