Justin Bieber didn't have the best 2013, and it seems like the teen idol's 2014 isn't off to a great start, either. Bieber's new album, Journals, has failed to make a real mark on the UK album chart and even missed out on the Official Chart's Top 40 list.

According to NME, Bieber's latest compilation album debuted at a No. 46 on the UK album charts last week (Dec. 28) following Journals Dec. 23 release date. This week, the album plummeted to No. 94, nestled in between Rod Stewart's Some Guys Have All The Luck and the soundtrack to 2012's major holiday movie Les Miserables.

Bieber's failure to chart well in the UK with Journals is likely due to the manner in which the record was released. Bieber dropped the albums first 10 tracks every Monday for 10 weeks in October through December and kept them available for individual download. Then, on Dec. 23, Bieber released Journals in full alongside five news songs and made the entire collection available as one compilation album, Journals.

The lack of a standout single could also have harmed Journals. Most of the album's individual Music Mondays tracks landed in the 20s and 30s on Official Chart's singles chart, with "Heartbreaker" being the peak at No. 14. "Heartbreaker" was also the only song to stay on the charts for more than one week.

To add more, Journals is only available for sale on iTunes.

Despite that, however, Bieber may have some cause for concern. His last album Believe shot straight to No. 1 in the UK upon its release in 2012.
