Fast-rising Patterson, New Jersey, rapper Fetty Wap, Brooklyn-based trap producer Baauer and fellow New York producer Dubbel Dutch made a track together titled "Promises" that has been captured step-by-step by Adidas and Yours Truly as part of their "Songs from Scratch" series. The process is captured in a short, 3 1/2-minute video and a long piece that describes how the concept for the collaboration was hatched and shows the creative process for each artist in making this track.

The video takes you behind the scenes in the studio as Baauer and Fetty Wap craft the new track. Fetty Wap described his selectivity with beats "If I don't like it, it ain't gon' like me."

Baauer, who has been working hard on his upcoming album with Nick Hook, made the time for Fetty over All-Star Weekend to make the track. He has been a big fan of the Kanye West-approved singer/rapper since his track "Trap Queen" has vaulted into the top 10 and onto the radio. Dubbel Dutch provided a synth line that Baauer worked into a track that he thought fit perfectly with Fetty Wap.

Wap creates the hook at lightning speed, though he admits during the clip that "I never thought I was gonna be no singer."

We get to see the struggles of recording as Wap steps into the vocal booth and isn't happy with the way he sounds, even though it may not sound that much different to the average consumer. He calls up his engineer to see if he has any advice, and just from hearing the question his engineer recommends Wap take the rest of the night off to rest his voice.

"Promises" is slated for release Wednesday, April 1. Watch the video below to see how it was made and get a short teaser of this potential hit.
