David Duchovny is one of the hottest interview subjects around right now because everyone wants to hear the details on that much-anticipated reboot of The X-Files. When he sat down for a chat with David Letterman, the fishing expedition was on, and from the sound of things, several familiar faces are likely to return for the limited six-episode run of the hit series. Insiders explained that "Star David Duchovny told CBS Late Show host David Letterman on Tuesday[, March 31,] that the sci-fi hit's Fox reboot will include supportive clench-jawed FBI assistant director Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and the villainous Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis). This cast is not yet official. We're told the only deals in place right now are for Duchovny, co-star Gillian Anderson and creator Chris Carter. But you have to figure that Duchovny is a pretty good source of intel, right?"

In spite of contracts not being confirmed by the network yet, X-Files would need to bring back some other familiar faces besides Duchovny and rumored real-life love Anderson to make it feel legitimate, right? After several years of keeping his office chair warm, Skinner became a beloved and crucial cast member.

A show like this needed a few consistent villains, and CSM was by far the most popular of those. It will be interesting how they work around things, though, because in the 13 years since The X-Files left prime-time television smoking is no longer acceptable to show.

Do you think Duchovny's inside info is likely to be on point and just not confirmed yet? What other characters would you like to see return for the limited run? Are you excited to see this show return to television, likely early next year? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
