Could Monica Lewinsky really be contemplating coming to ABC's The View, at least as a guest host? When that notion first started circulating last week, it was quickly squashed as just a rumor, but the fact is that the floundering chatfest needs a real shot in the arm if there is any hope of it being renewed for another season. Jenny McCarthy recently confirmed that one year after leaving, producers failed to convince her to return to the show, and there are not too many other names even being mentioned. As it turns out, Barbara Walters is pushing hard for Lewinsky to join the show in any capacity.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, "Barbara Walters has told execs at ABC that they should look at having Monica Lewinsky on as a guest at the very least, if not go as far as consider her for a host position. Their source says, 'Barbara believes that Monica, 41, could make The View competitive and compelling and while a lot of Washington's elite may scratch the show off its must-visit press list, the younger demographic of online users would tune in daily to see what she had to say.'" explained an insider.

In the last year, Lewinsky has come out of those self-imposed shadows and decided after years of hiding that she has a lot to say. Lewinsky has become an advocate for women's rights and anti-bullying, and in doing so she has revealed herself to be more than the woman who nearly completely unraveled Bill Clinton's presidency. Walters is right in thinking that people would be interested in what Lewinsky has to say on a variety of topics, and it would likely cause The View's ratings to increase nicely.
