Meghan Trainor has heard the criticisms that her new single "Dear Future Husband" is sexist, but the "All About That Bass" singer doesn't quite agree that she was being anti-feminist. In a new interview with MTV News, Trainor said that the Title track is just a personal track and a letter to her future beau, wherever he may be.

The backlash against "Dear Future Husband" arrived when the song was released on Trainor's 2014 Title EP. The song features kitschy lyrics about antiquated gender roles, with Trainor trading doing the grocery shopping for dates and flowers.

The controversy only continued with the release of the music video last month. The clip featured Trainor playing the 1950s housewife, washing the floors and burning apple pies... but Trainor doesn't understand where the controversies came from, insisting that the song came from an honest place.

"Just surprised the random places people are asking me if I was being sexist," Trainor said about the controversy surrounding her "Lips Are Movin'" follow-up. "But no, I don't believe I was. I think I was just writing my song to my future husband out there, wherever he is. He's chilling right now, taking a minute getting ready for me. It's going to be great."

Trainor is no stranger to receiving criticism about her lyrics. Her debut single "All About That Bass," which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks last year, got similar criticism from feminists for shaming skinny women and relying on men for positive body image.
