Fathom Events and Rhino Entertainment are bringing previously unseen 1989 concert footage to the big screen on May 4, for the Grateful Dead's 5th Annual Meet-Up at the Movies.

The 1965 American rock band from Palo Alto, California is best known for its eclectic sound and its ability to fuse together elements of rock, bluegrass, psychedelia and folk music. For one night only, Dead Heads will be given access to exclusive footage from the July 1989 concert in the Alpine Valley venue of East Troy, Wisconsin.

Known for having multiple line-up additions over the years, this late eighties variety of the Dead includes Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Brent Mydland and Bob Weir, reports Rolling Stone. Fan favorites such as "Box of Rain," "Morning Dew" and "Sugaree," including a cover or two, will all be performed in the 2015 concert viewing.

Aside from the movie meet-up, the Dead have a few other stops for their 50th anniversary celebrations -- a tribute concert for Jerry Garcia in Maryland will take place on May 14 as well as one last onstage reunion for a three-concert, July performance at Soldier Field in Chicago, incorporating Bruce Hornsby and Phish's Trey Anastasio .

Meanwhile, The Dead's very own Bill Kreutzmann posted a Facebook video of himself recently joining a street musician for some Sunday afternoon drumming, remaining unnoticed outside the Ferry Terminal Building in San Francisco, according to the Huffington Post. Deadheads are kicking themselves for missing this rare, intimate and free opportunity, in comparison to the large-scale, costly concerts Kreutzmann and company are about to partake in.

Remember parking lot drum circles? I do. (And I'll still join in, undercover... even after Sunday brunches in San Francisco.)
