    Fans who weren't able to buy tickets to the Grateful Dead's July reunion shows in Chicago will be able to see the performances in select movie theaters, Fathom Events announced today, April 16. The screenings will run for five hours July 3 to 5 as Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh jam live from Soldier Field. Tickets for the shows will be on sale May 4 with local theaters determining the prices, 'Billboard' noted.

    The biggest concert of the year, by this reporter's reckoning, has to be the "Fare Thee Well" concert series announced by the Grateful Dead to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band's legendary shows at Soldier Field in Chicago. Although it will be the band's first official in decades (not counting The Dead gigs), none of the original members have been far from music, including bassist Phil Lesh, who has toured with Phil Lesh & Friends and the Other Ones. Music Times wants to celebrate Lesh's contributions to the Grateful Dead to honor his 75th birthday.

Demand for more concerts with the surviving members is at an all-time high, with ticket requests for the initial shows having reached the millions.

    Fans of the Grateful Dead showed their love for the band over the weekend, buying every last ticket available for the reunion shows set to happen at Chicago's Soldier Field in July. The three shows slated for July 3 to 5 sold out in one hour Saturday, Feb. 28. Ticketmaster did not crash even with the demand for tickets reaching the millions, 'Billboard' noted.
  • Grateful Dead Fans Flood U.S. Postal Service with Pre-Sale Ticket Requests

    The Grateful Dead has some of the most passionate fans in music history. Pre-sales for the jam band's Fourth of July Reunion show with Trey Anastasio overwhelmed the group's camp since opening Jan. 20. Dead 50 reports that more than 60,000 envelopes with ticket requests were received. Relix estimates that those envelopes contain over 350,000 ticket requests for the three-night residency at Chicago's Soldier Field.
